Hackney Academy Wins CIBSE "Low Carbon Award"
The new £27m City Academy in Hackney opened its doors to its first pupils in September 2009.
MJN Colston is justifiably proud to be part of the design and construction team that delivered the Hackney Academy Project, this year’s winner of the CIBSE Low Carbon Award.
Construction and engineering professionals that lead the industry in creating a sustainable built environment were celebrated at the 2010 CIBSE Low Carbon Awards.
MJN Colston were involved from an early stage and worked with Max Fordam to assist with the engineering of the building services design. We then installed all of Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health Services.
“Raising the Bar”
Passive systems are at the heart of the building services solution employed on this project. Natural day light and ventilation were key features used to achieve the sustainable and low carbon emission targets for the project.
The result is a sustainable and ideal learning environment, for both pupils, teachers and future generations.
