Derby University - Arts, Design & Technology

As part of their commitment in providing the highest standards of education Derby University,have constructed a brand new £21m building for the faculty of Arts, Design and Technology. Markeaton Street, Derby is the newest arts, design and technology facility in the UK and features state-of-the-art equipment.

The project’s electrical services were designed by Faber Maunsell the building services design engineers, with EI.WHS participating in the development of working drawings to establish a clear co-ordinated building services design with the mechanical services.

Electrical services consisted of HV/LV Packaged sub-station, power distribution, lighting and emergency lighting schemes, lightning protection, IT systems and life safety systems. The lighting of the building was designed and installed to be of the highest energy efficient that could be achieved utilising presence detection and light scene set systems throughout.

The faculty was handed over on time and met all the expectations and criteria required by the University, it was opened in September 2007 by Sir Richard Branson.
