Punch Tavern, Burton on Trent

Punch Tavern the regional home of the pub industry in Burton on Trent is receiving a ground-breaking and eco-friendly new headquarters.

The building which is spread over 7,377 square meters of office space. It is divided into three separate storey wings which will house the company’s enlarged team, including employees from both Punch’s managed and leased businesses.

The offices were completed in summer 2009; they have been specifically designed with the company’s carbon footprint in mind, with the aim of minimising energy consumption.

We were responsible for the design of the Mechanical & Electrical services for the project, with the main emphasis being energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy sources.

Mechanical services consisted of Air Conditioning, ventilation, gas fired heating, Bms controls, domestic water and sanitary ware, above ground drainage. Electrical services consisted of Low Voltage Distribution, Standby Generator, Small Power via underfloor bus bar systems, Lighting, Data Communications, Fire Alarm, CCTV, Access Control and Lightning Protection System.

Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Sources consisted of Daylight linked PIR controlled Lighting Systems, Rain Water Harvesting for toilet flush systems, Hot Water by roof mounted solar panels.

Through close liaison with the clients existing design team and the client directly, we were able to co-ordinate the M&E services with other trades throughout the construction process right through to commissioning and eventual handover of the building.
