Project Horizon

Project Horizon was constructed on a greenfield site in Pencoed, Bridgend, South Wales and is a new build Pharmaceutical Production Facility designed for Ortho Clinical Diagnostics a division of Johnson and Johnson.

The installation of the services was achieved within a 41 week programme with a 16 weeks commissioning period. This included validation and witnessing of all the Building Services installation to meet strict OCD requirements.

The building has a highly serviced production area including Ultra Clean Rooms for the production of pharmaceutical goods. MJN Colston’s responsibilities included lead role in the verification of pressure control regime within the clean room areas along with the full co-ordination of all Building Services. This was assisted by the development of full 3D CAD modeling for the building structure and services.

The new facility includes,three storey offices,highly serviced production area with plant deck/walk on ceiling, ultra clean rooms, warehouse and two storey laboratory. The external works including gate house, utility building, and sprinkler pump house.

MJN Colston were responsible for the installation and commissioning of the Mechanical and Electrical Services comprising of: Central Thermo Condensing Boiler Plant, LTHW, HWS, CWS, Chilled Water, Cooling Water, Grey Water, Purified Water Supplies, Natural Gas, Production Gas, Compressed Air, A/C, Computer Room Cooling, Ventilation, External services, Fume Extract, Local Extract Ventilation, Building Management Control, EMS, LV Switchgear, LV Distribution, Internal/External/Emergency Lighting, Small Power, Earth Bonding, Lightning Protection, Fire Alarm, Security, CCTV, Access Control, Security, Data/Telecom Containment, integrated services to clean room specification, co-ordination of all services utilizing 3D model.
