The new Head Quarters for Hertfordshire County Council was provided by refurbishing two office blocks and an underground car park previously occupied by Norwich Union. An extensive refurbishment was carried out, however where possible existing services and finishes were retained.

MJN Colston were responsible for the installation of new Chillers and AHU’s within roof plant rooms and basement plant areas within both office blocks, installation of FCU’s throughout each of the three floors of each building. Also the refurbishment/replacement of services within toilets, new tea stations and kitchen areas included both domestic and public health services.

The extent of the new mechanical services within the roof plant areas consisted of 2 sets of chillers for each building and associated pipework, new domestic hot water services including calorifier and pipe work serving the new ground floor kitchen and the new AHU’s serving specific areas throughout each building.

New mechanical services within the basement plant areas consisted of chiller, AHU’s and associated pipe work including new heat recovery circuits.

MJN Colston were also responsible for the installation of air conditioning installation within Communication rooms , IT/Data rooms and main switch rooms including associated fire safety systems within the main communication/ IT room.

In addition to the new installation MJN Colston aso refurbished all existing AHU’s , FCU’s and Boilers within both buildings.

Refurbishment works also extended to refurbishment/ replacement of components throughout the extent of the heating/cooling and domestic services including valves, water heaters, sanitary ware.

MJN were responsible for the commissioning of all heating, cooling, domestic and ventilation systems throughout each building on both the new and existing services.
