Peninsula Dental school, Truro

Following the successful opening of Plymouth Dental School, the first new dental school has been built in the UK for 40 years, and opened its door to its first students in 2010.

Plymouth Dental School welcomed its first students last year when it opened in September 2007. The construction of these new schools are to fill the gap in NHS Dental Health care provision for Cornwall. Peninsula Dental School has been built on the Treliske Hospital campus, adjoined to the Knowledge Spa Medical school & offers a state of the art dental educational facility.

The School provides training and research activities into the Environment and Human Health. The new facility includes 32 Dental chairs for training, four single surgeries & research and Office space. Both the building and research facilities have received investment from the ERDF Convergence Programme.

Peninsula Dental School offers their students a very different kind of learning experience to most dental schools by offering their students four years of clinical experience instead of the traditional 2-3 years. The Dental School schemes were established as a partnership between the Universities of Exeter & Plymouth and the NHS in Devon and Cornwall.

MJN Colston were responsible for the co-ordination and installation of the Mechanical, Electrical & Public Health Services.
