Marks and Spencer, Croydon

The three storey department in Croydon is in a prime location, within the Whitgift Centre, and faces the new “Centrale” shopping centre.
The building has a ground, first, second and sales floor which have been remodelled utilising a new plant to provide the environmental conditions. The services have been maintained to suit seasonal requirements and refurbished to give a five year sustainability life span.
This store is one of Marks & Spencer’s high earning stores, and due to this, all the work had to be meticulously planned and executed to prevent any loss of revenue. Over 70% of the work was carried out under “unsociable hours”.
The scope of works included the supply and installation of a new AHU in the centre of the roof area, ventilation and air conditioning modifications, above-ground drainage and water services modifications, BMS software upgrade, removal and re-instatement of insulation to all the ductwork at the roof level and recommissioning of systems.
All the systems were designed and installed for sustainability and energy saving controls to reduce consumption, therefore helping the environment.
